Dormant Bank Accounts
An account becomes inactive when there has been no activity in that account for a period of 6 months. If there is no activity for an additional 6 months (one year in total), the account becomes dormant.
Once an account becomes dormant, it is not accessible through online banking until it has been reactivated in one of the following ways:
Personal Accounts:
- You make a deposit, transfer, withdrawal, or a bill payment at the Columbia Valley Credit Union branch.
- You provide a written or verbal request (in person) to activate your account, and no transaction is required.
Business Accounts:
- You make a deposit, transfer, withdrawal, or a bill payment at the Columbia Valley Credit Union branch.
- You provide a written or verbal request (in person) to activate your account, and no transaction required. This applies to one signature accounts only.
- If your business account has two signing authorities, you must provide a written request to activate account, and no transaction required.
When your account becomes dormant, you will receive a letter or notice indicating the account’s status. If we do not receive a response from you, a dormant fee of $3.00 will be applied monthly (starting the following month).
