Teach your child or teen the power of saving money?
Opening a savings account in their name can inspire them to save money today, and when they’re an adult.
At Columbia Valley Credit Union, when you open a youth bank account, your child or teen will receive $25 from the credit union as one of their first deposits.
Here’s what you need to know about our youth account:
- A youth account is available to anyone between the ages of 6 and 22. When they turn 23, the account will change to an adult account.
- The youth account has no monthly fee and unlimited transactions, including e-transfers.
- A parent or guardian must be joint on the account if it is opened before the child turns 13. If your child is age 13 and or older, the account can be in the child’s name only.
- There are no limits on deposits or withdrawals when done in branch through a teller.
- Any deposits made through the ATM would have a 5-day hold placed on them.
- If they have a debit card, there are limits to what they can access with their debit card
- Age 6-15 - $200 cash / $500 point of sale (in a store)
- Age 16-19 - $500 cash / $1,000 point of sale
